The last week of Carnaval is in my mind as one big blur. Not because I was drinking, (I only drank a little), but because everyday there was something going on. Choirs singing in the streets around every corner, free giveaways (food, beer & wine all for freeeeee), concerts in the evening, costumes galore, a massive fireworks display and more. My days and nights were full.
One of the choirs singing on a truck that moves around the city.
Miki, Vane, and Marcos
The bug choir singing a song in the old town.
Their costumes represented the Miners in Chili.
Marcos's twin Mad Hatter sister!
Traditional sea food sold during Carnaval.
Victorio Lucchino, a famous designer.
They fry their own potato chips instead of selling lays! They are so much better!
Elin (from Sweden) and I. We look like sisters.
Alejandro (the school admin) and I
All of us enjoying our free food and beer!
Friends :)
Concert in the square. Everyone in the crowd was singing along!
Alice in Wonderland costumes from Malaga.
More Alice friends. I just loved this Queen.
Burning of the witch at the end of Carnaval.
The amazing fireworks show at the end. It's a long video, but very pretty!

Are their homemade potato chips harder, like they are here?
Fresh potato chips seem to be available on every corner, as well as some other weird airy crispy things that I have yet to pinpoint the main ingredient. They cover the chips and all fruit in lime juice and tons of chili powder!
Lately I have been wanting to do artsy projects, call myself artsy, and hope people believe I really am... artsy. Pinteres t has been amazing, in that I can find fun and easy home projects, pin them to my craft board , and then attack them when I have a free day. Well today was 'do something creative with a map' day. I have always wanted a world map in my home, but I hate using thumb tacks, and who wants to have a poster continuously falling down because the sticky putty you are using is useless. (Ahem, Marcos, I'm talking to you.) And because I want a GIANT world map, buying a frame for it is out of the question, as they are too expensive. Luckily, I found this project by Creative Juices Decor on Deedra's pinterest board . Canvases and Mod Podge? I'm in. I bought a brand new, though antique looking, world map at Barnes and Nobles and went to work. Seven hours later, with a sore neck, glued fingers, a trip back to the book store for a replacement m...
About two years I got an x-ray at my Chiropractor's office to check out my back. After reviewing the films, we found a little spot in my kidney area about the size of a pencil eraser. I didn't do anything about it until this fall. After doing an endoscopy for other reasons, my doctor told me I had a kidney stone about 7mm in size, like a small raisin. Isn't it funny how doctors describe size by comparing them to fruit or nuts?! So I went to visit a urologist who told me I needed to get the sucker out!! Today was the day. I really didn't anticipate it being such a big deal, but um.... yeah, it was a big deal!! Here is how it went: No eating after midnight, no drinking past 10 am. Dave picked me up at 11:30am, get to hospital, check in on first floor, to be directed to another check in on the 5th floor, to yet again go to another check in across the sky bridge. Wait a moment, get checked in AGAIN in another office, wait some more. F...
October was a crazy month. If you thought for one second that September was busy with sales in Skagway for me, ha! October was three times that busy. I jammed three months of work into one month (though I still have more to do), as well as, recruited 25 plus volunteers and helped raise more than $54,000 for Get Hitched Give Hope . I would love to do an entire blog just on GHGH, but I will leave it to the blog website to fill you in. The entire month I didn't stop. I had Sarah and Jared in town, then right after Terry and Drew in town.... a short trip to Ketchikan, and then Mom and Michelle in town in Seattle. My birthday weekend was a blast. Valerie came to visit and we enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Ketchikan weather for being so amazing! Here are a few pictures of my October. Hike with Matt (and Valerie) in Ketchikan Home town, view from 3rd avenue trail Beautiful Carol, Michelle and I at GHGH Soooooo ...
